FABRIQUE NATIONALE MODEL 1949 SEMIFABRIQUE NATIONALE MODEL 1949 SEMI AUTO 7.62 RIFLEFeatured in this lot we have a Fabrique Nationale model 1949 semi-automatic battle rifle lacking the automatic selector switch and chambered in 7.62x51mm. The model 1949 is a gas operated semi-automatic battle rifle designed by Dieudonne Saive in 1947. The rifle was used in numerous wars including the Korean War and Suez Crisis. The rifle features a 23" long round barrel, hard wood stock and barrel shroud, 10 shot magazine, adjustable rear pinhole sight, bayonet attachment point, and metal butt plate. The left side of the frame is marked "Fabrique Nationale D'Armes De Guerre _ Herstal Belgique" with the top of the frame stamped with a crown design. The rifle shows an operational slide and action with the trigger and safety gummed up with grease build up making functionality unknown. The rifle shows good condition overall with wear due to age and use. Serial Number: 25089. This firearm qualifies as a Curio & Relic firearm, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.

Walnut stock. Condition: Barrel and action retains 90% of the original blue finish. Breechblock with traces of case color mostly turning brown. Walnut stock has had a coat of Tru-oil applied. Still retains a good cartouche; the stock has a cut out where the receiver sight was added. Bore is excellent.

Rifle has a period rifled-musket leather sling with the single-necked brass hook. Condition: Entire rifle has a nice untouched ''been together'' look. Barrel and lock with deep dark brown patina with some pitting around the bolster and breech. Brass has untouched patina. Stock has nice open-grained look with two readable cartouches. Stock has some minimal nicks and dings.

Front folding beech sight. Triggerguard and trigger are a replacement; lacks engraving on the bottom of triggerguard and the single-set trigger. Hammer with lip. Walnut stock with checkering in the wrist and fore end. A circle ''P'' behind the triggerguard. Engraved Type 11 nickel-plated white metal tip. Replacement wood ramrod with nickel-plated tip. 477 officer's rifles were made at Springfield Arsenal; 314 by name were ordered. This particular rifle was made between 1879-1880. Condition: All metal is nice sharp and crisp. Evenly matched with nice light brown patina. Stock is excellent with some nicks and dings. Bore is excellent.
