Early American School portrait of Peter Turner Van Pelt, oil on champhered wood panel, depicting a young gentleman with brown curly hair seated before a skirted table. Two quill pens in ink stand sit on the table together with a standing book. Painting appears to be early 19th c. in the original wood milled frame. In pencil, the sitter is identified en verso, Rev Peter Van Pelt, 1919 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia. Attributed to Francis Martin Drexel.

Condition: Slight warpage to the panel, minor inpainting particular around the collar, frame is old and may or may not be original, frame is also repainted
