From their primary location on Belvedere Road, Lambeth, they became known for fine carving work and furnishings and later expanded into domestic wares and cabinetmaking from the early 1870s. The company exhibited works at numerous international exhibitions and counted makers such as E. W. Godwin, J. Moyr Smith, and S. J. Nicholl among their designers.

A British Arts and Crafts Tray Top Serving Table late 19th c. related to the designs of Christopher Dresser and John Moyr Smith molded top incised with Celtic and Anglo-Saxon motifs turned X-form supports medial shelf trestle feet pegged stretchers height 32 1/2 in. width 36 in. depth 26 in. Note: The Celtic knotwork along the tray border as well as the zigzag carving on the medial shelf of this table are motifs included in Dresser's repertoire. Smith a student of Dresser would have worked with similar motifs.

An American Modern Gothic Walnut and Minton Tile Hanging Cabinet c. 1875 attributed to Kimbel and Cabus New York with notched pediment crenellated gallery each door ornamented with brass strapwork hinges wooden pegs and centered by a Minton tile by John Moyr Smith depicting "Alfred" and "Edy. and Elgiua" from the English history series c. 1872 the sides with reeded panels height 29 3/4 in. width 25 1/2 in. depth 8 3/4 in. Note: John Moyr Smith (1839-1912) produced numerous tile designs for Minton tile works and was favored exclusively by New York's Kimbel and Cabus. Educated at the Glasgow School of Art along with Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Christopher Dresser; the latter employed Smith at his London studio. The cabinet's overall design relates to the early work of William Bourgess Philip Webb and William Morris' creative circle who all drew inspiration from medieval history architecture and decorative arts.
