Barnes, present Trustee," board: 16"h x 20"w, overall (with frame): 18.5"h x 22.25"w. Provenance: Estate of Joanna Barnes and Jack Warner (Santa Barbara, California). Ms. Barnes was a Hollywood film actress featured in movies such as "Auntie Mame (1958)" and "The Parent Trap (1961)". Mr. Warner was a prominent architect.

Five pieces, being original promotional movie stills for the film starring Henry Fonda as Abraham Lincoln, and Marjorie Weaver as Mary Todd. All 8 x 10". Five in very good condition, two with marginal faults.

Lot. (Abraham Lincoln.) Textile Scraps from the Funeral Car of Abraham Lincoln. In 19th-Century ink-lettered envelope, "Scraps from the funeral car of Mr. Lincoln - April 1865." This envelope was removed from a scrapbook assembled by Green Adams. Born in Barbourville, Kentucky, Adams served as a Federal judge & U.S. Congressman before The Civil War. During The Civil War, Adams supported the Union cause & corresponded with President Lincoln. Three letters from Lincoln to Adams are housed in The Civil War Museum & Library in Philadelphia. A letter outlining this history & provenance is available from Adams's great, great-granddaughter.

Lincoln in the recto margin; a slightly different Brady/Anthony carte from the same sitting lacking an inscription; an illustration after the same sitting with the backmark of Charles Taber & Co. of New Bedford Massachusetts; an anonymous vignette of Mrs. Lincoln in dark dress; an illustration from the same sitting imprinted Mrs. Lincoln on recto but lacking any publisher's info; and a lithographed carte of Mrs. Lincoln from an engraving also anonymous. The Ed Steers Lincolniana & Civil War Collection Condition: First is soiled and more worn than the others which are worn at the edges else very good.

[Political Americana - Lincolniana] Our American Cousin Broadside 18.5'' x 6.25'' framed to 8.5'' X 23.25''. Advertising a performance of the popular play Our American Cousin the same play at which President Lincoln was assassinated on April 14th the same day he was shot but at Harvard's Howard Athenaeum two in 1863 two years prior to the assassination. This performance starred Mr. John E. Owens and the broadside notes that colored people will be admitted but to the gallery only. Civil War-Era Diary Containing April 15 1865 Reference to Lincoln's Death Plus Lot of 3 includes 1865 diary and two period pens (one ivory one wood). The diary published by A. Williams & Co. of Boston contains simple notes on the keeper's movements meetings and the weather for each day of the year. The unidentified keeper was from the Boston area traveling to Boston almost every morning and Newton almost every evening. His entries rarely note anything else excepting a few personal items and national news events including: April 3: Great rejoicing over the fall of Richmond April 10: Great rejoicing over the surrender of Lee and his army. April 15: Astounded by news of the murder of President Lincoln. April 16: At Church Mr. Warren preached on the death of President Lincoln. April 19: President Lincoln's funeral and the entire nation is in mourning...At Church at 12 noon... Notes regarding personal matters include references to meetings of a Road Committee a few visits and dinners with Massachusetts Governor John Albion Andrew (governor for the entirety of the war known for his staunch abolitionist views and for promoting the employment of black soldiers) several references to meetings with friend John W. Candler including efforts to get him nominated as representative (Candler was successful and he served as state representative the following year 1866 and was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1881-83 and 1889-91) family matters such as Everett buried and Mother died this morning at 8-1/4 o'clock in her 91st year; Mother's funeral at my house Rev'd Warren read the service body taken to (?) departed at the age of 91 & 23 days a most excellent and respectable woman I never saw her equal and holiday notes: (December 7) State & national Thanksgiving children and grandchildren all at home. At church snow storm.; (December 24) At Church. All here to dine including 4 grandchildren 19 in all; (December 31) At Church. Cloudy. Sleighing. All the children and grandchildren at dinner.
