DECORATED MINIATURE MULE CHEST. New England 2nd quarter-19th century pine. Of typical form with a chest over two drawers half-moon ends and retaining its original grain-painted decoration. Imperfections. 11 1/2''h. 10 1/4''w. 5 3/4''d. Ex Austin and Jill Fine sold at Sotheby's (New York) January 1987 ex Don Walters (Massachusetts). A few minor losses to the drawers one knob replaced crack to one drawer crazed varnish lacking lock.

MULE CHEST. Pine with lift lid interior til two drawers with batwing pulls and bracket feet. Retains a red stain. 40 1/2'' h. 43 1/2'' w. 18 1/4'' d. Top portion on the back is replaced. It is basically the top strip that the lid is attached to that is replaced. 41 3/4'' wide and just over an inch high.hinges are replaced but old. The Pulls are replaced. It has a till and the lid opens and closes tightly. Square nails and the drawers are dovetailed.
