Condition: The item is in good condition with no visible tears, creases, or major losses. The surface is stable, and the color is bold and bright. There is a paint accretion to the upper center, which appears to be original. There is a stretcher bar mark along the margins. There are minute paint losses along the extreme edges, possibly against the previous frame. Along the verso, there is light soiling and pen inscriptions along the upper margin; to the lower right quadrant, there is minor fraying, which does not affect the recto. Wear to frame. No visible sign of restoration under UV light.

A scroll at the bottom reads "Des ailes, des ailes, pour voler par Montagne et par vallee, Ruckert"; (Wings, wings, to fly by mountain and by valley). A stanza of "Wings! Wings to fly!" from 'Springtime of Love?, Op. 37 by Friedrich Ruckert (1788-1866). Roughly 31 1/2" x 22" x 19".

The "Auctioneer" impresses in his belted wool jacket, corduroy slacks,suede cap, and felt slippers. He carries his wooden gavel and two leather bags filled with sale ring accessories. Tallest 11 /12"H. Good condition, small stain on auctioneer's shirt.
