A Pair of Satsuma Dargonware Porcelain Vases of Thousand Immortals Late Meiji (1868-1912). Hexagonal shape footed porcelain vases with short neck and flared rim over slightly tapered shoulders. Hand painted in polychrome with extensive gilt highlights depicting panoramic thousand Immortals design and dragon with white moriage. Shoulders decorated in gilt with three Shimazu family crests with clouds on a brocade background. Marked in iron red cartouche with gilt characters with Shimazu family crest on the underside. Measures apprx. 9"T x 4-1/2" x 4".

A Pair of Imperial Presentation Vases by Hattori Tadasaburo of Nagoya Circa 1910 the pair of ovoid baluster form vases with silver mounts the yellow ground decorated in moriage technique with hibicus and foliage all in silver wire. The kiku mon of the Emperor Meigi appears on either side of the neck formed in gold wire and white enamel. With original purple silk bags and double paulownia chest. Signed in silver wire in the enameled base. Presented to the Chief Auditor Saito of the Imperial Household on the occasion of his retirement. From a private lifetime collection. Vases measure 13-1/2"T (33.02cm). For a similar pair see page 353 plate number 367 "The Splendors of Meiji" Khalili Collection. A similar single vase sold by Sotheby's during the The Avo Krikorian Collection was sold in Zurich in 2007 for $107 226 including the buyers premium. Private collection.
