19TH C. ITALIAN WOOD CROWN RELIEF CARVINGEurope, Italy, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A lovely wood relief carving of the imperial state crown of Italy adorned with a twisted floral band at the bottom and 5 arches with 3 petalled flowers and 2 crosses. Decorative knobs line each arch and points with orbs rise between the arches. This crown may have served as a decoration in a church or a palace. Size: 8.9" W x 4.9" H (22.6 cm x 12.4 cm)
Provenance: private Rancho Mirage, California, USA collection, by inheritance in 2020; ex-Dr. TDR Berreth, California, USA, acquired before 1982
