Edmund Brucker (American,
Edmund Brucker (American, 1912-1999), "The Nanny", African American female portrait, oil on board; 24 3/4" x 18 1/2"; signed lower right. Indiana Artist Club Exhibition label verso. Brucker was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He studied at the Cleveland School of Art under instructors Keller, Stoll, and Travis. In 1938 he joined the staff of the Herron Art Institute in Indiana where he taught until his retirement in the 1980's.

SCOTT PRIOR REALIST NUDE OIL, NANNY IN BEDScott Prior (American, b. 1949), "Nanny in Bed," realist oil on panel painting depicting the artist's wife, nude and resting on her elbow, upon bedsheets illuminated by light from a nearby window. Signed and dated 1997 en verso. Floated in an ebonized wooden frame. Forum Gallery, New York, label en verso with title and artist name. Panel - 24"H x 18"W. Frame - 32"h x 26"W. Note: A New Hampshire native, Scott Prior received a BFA from the University of Massachusetts and has become known for his realist paintings. A self portrait of him and his wife "Nanny," (the daughter of Kurt Vonnegut) is owned by the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. His work is also in the collections of the DeCordova Museum, the Danforth Museum, the New Britain Museum of American Art, the Rose Art Museum and other major public and private collections. He has shown extensively in one-person and group shows in the United States and abroad. In 2001 he had a mid-career retrospective at the DeCordova Museum.
