TWO INDIAN NIM QALAM PAINTINGS 19th century, two paintings in ink with monochrome wash highlighted with gold and touches of body color, a technique known as nim qalam (half pen) used by Mughal court artists beginning in the 16th century, the first painting is of Krishna and Radha celebrating Holi festival with gopis by the river, the second is of a shah riding camel, both skillfully painted, framed with silk mats in identical gilt frames, not examined outside of the frame.
