This painting won a gold medal at the 1956 131st Annual Exhibition of National Academy of Design. Original tag on reverse. Known for his paintings of the New England coast especially Monhegan Island in Maine. His works are in the collections of several art museums including The Toledo Museum of Art and the High Museum of Art. The painting is actually oil on masonite. Under blacklight there are a few spots that fluoresce but no damage or inpainting is apparent under bright light (possibly just a varnish issue).
