(3) Literature: Harry Simeon was active at Doulton from 1896 to 1936. He began his distinctive Toby jug series in 1924.

Made in Great Britain by a harness maker to show his leather working skills, the Toby jug was often given to a pub or inn as advertising for the harness maker.
