ENGRAVED NEW HAVEN VOLCANIC
ENGRAVED NEW HAVEN VOLCANIC LEVER-ACTION REPEATING PISTOL. No. 1 Pocket Model .31 caliber 3 1/2'' octagonal barrel engraved and silver-plated brass frame walnut grips. S/n 768. Retains about 50% of the plating on the frame and about 10-20% of the bluing on the barrel older finish on the grips a few spots of light corrosion engraving still sharp barrel mark worn but still readable action is stiff and when the lever is cocked the hammer does not always remain in the cocked position. NOTE: retains a letter from Arnold Marcus Chernoff to Steve Romanoff dated 1981 about this gun--it was advertised in The Gun Report in April 1981 and is ex Calhoon Norton.

ID'D NEW HAVEN VOLCANIC
ID'D NEW HAVEN VOLCANIC LEVER-ACTION REPEATING PISTOL. No. 1 Pocket Model .31 caliber 3 1/2'' octagonal barrel brass frame walnut grips. The frame is engraved ''John H. Kearsing Albany N.Y.'' on the right and ''43rd Regt. N.Y.S.V.'' on the left. Kearsing (1836/7-1906) enlisted in Company G of the 43rd New York in the fall of 1862 following the regiment's losses at Antietam. The 43rd fought at Gettysburg and a number of other engagements in late 1863. In 1864 they participated in the Wilderness campaign where they suffered grievous losses including the capture of Pvt. Kearsing. He spent the remainder of the war imprisoned at Andersonville Georgia. NARA copies of his war record accompany this lot. Some wear and light corrosion; barrel markings worn and only partially legible serial number worn off entirely.

CONNECTICUT ARMS CO. POCKET REVOLVER. Front loading pocket revolver .28 caliber 3'' ribbed octagonal barrel silver plated brass frame and walnut grips. Sn. 4061. Very scarce late variant with large knob tip on ejecter and two line patent date 1864 1866 on cylinder. Strong action clean bore good rifling. 90% blue on barrel 20% on cylinder 15% plating left on frame. Name on barrel quite clear patent dates on cylinder are clear though harder to read because of mottled finish. Very nice gun.

Colt Model 1849 Pocket Model .31 cal. 4'' octagonal barrel S/N 186686. All matching numbers two-line Hartford address walnut grips. Condition: Barrel retains 50% of the bright original blue finish just thinning and off of the high edges. Loading lever retains 40% of the original case colors turning to a dark brown. Frame retains traces of case colors turning brown. Cylinder scene is sharp and crisp with light patina brown appearance. Grips retain most of the original varnish with some wear on the sharp edges and some nicks and dings.

Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver with Square Back Triggerguard .31 cal. 4'' octagonal barrel S/N 13621. Two-line New York barrel address with seraph brackets; brass backstrap and triggerguard; walnut grips. Condition: Barrel has a soft brown patina. Frame is grey-to-brown with some light pitting. Cylinder is grey with some pitting and the cylinder scene is very dim. Wedge is a replacement. Grips have some varnish with some nicks and dings; some scuffing.

Colt 3.5'' Round Ctg Barrel W/O Ejector with Holster .38 rimfire 3'' round barrel S/N 1892. Two-line Hartford address; two-line patent markings on the left side of frame with 38 caliber markings on the triggerguard. Nickel finish blued trigger screws wedge case colored hammer varnished walnut grips. Engraved on the backstrap Adams Express Co Sacramento Cal. Complete with a period black holster trimmed in red leather piping. Condition: Revolver retains 95% of the original nickel finish with just a small amount flaking on the bottom of triggerguard and on the backstrap. Engraving was cut through the nickel but is period engraving. Grips retain most of the varnish with some scuffing to the outer edges. Holster has some scuffing and loose trim on the flap.
