DeLancey Floyd-Jones U.S. Army Officer LS DeLancey Floyd-Jones (1826-1902).? United States Army officer with service in the Mexican-American War Civil War and Indian Wars. 2pp Fort Wallace Kansas Dec. 6 1871.? Content relates to settlement of Indian accounts including reimbursement for passage on the Oregon Steam Navigation Co.? Signed Del. Floyd-Jones / Col. U.S.A.Floyd-Jones of Long Island graduated West Point in 1846 commissioned a second lieutenant in the 4th U.S. Infantry for service in the Mexican War where he saw action in the Battles of Veracruz and Mexico City.? He was assigned to garrison and recruiting duty in Mississippi Michigan and the West Coast in the years before the Civil War at which point he was promoted to major in the 11th U.S. Infantry.? He fought most of the war in Virginia and Maryland being twice brevetted for gallantry: to lieutenant colonel for actions in the Peninsula Campaign and to colonel for actions at Gettysburg where his regiment suffered heavy losses in the Wheatfield.? Once receiving his a full promotion Lieutenant Colonel Floyd-Jones spent the final months of the war commanding the defenses at Boston Harbor.? He commanded forts throughout the South and West following the Civil War and had just finished a stint as Superintendent of Indian Affairs for the Idaho Territory when this letter was written.

ANTIQUE SOUTH WALES MILITARY UNIFORMAn antique South Wales Borderers Officer's uniform, comprised of a Colonel's dress tunic retaining Regimental bronzed collar badges & buttons, the shoulder straps with rank insignia, both arms with Prince of Wales plume Divisional badges and title Cadet Force. Complete with trousers, shirt, tie and Sam Browne belt. Accompanied by a Regimental Mess jacket in scarlet melton cloth with green facings to the collar and cuffs. The tailor's label on the lining noting 'D.R. Llewellyn'. (Colonel W.H.C. Llewellyn joined the South Wales Borderers in 1913, and was later appointed Lord Lieutenant, and given the rank of Honorary Colonel). Provenance: Bosleys Auctions U.K. 10 /11 /2000.

CIVIL WAR OFFICER HALF-PLATE TINTYPE1/2 plate tin showing a man in what appears to be a U.S. Union junior officer's frock coat with epaulettes and a leather belt with the Union insignia with a sword. The buttons and sword are hand colored with gold. Hinged case with red velvet lining, hinge and hook closures intact, remnants of gilt decoration on edges. Mat decorated with birds and floral boughs. Sight size approx. 3-1/2" L x 4-3/4" H, case 4-3/4" L x 6" H. Wear to case, darkening around the edges of the image, and some lighscratching. We have not removed this image from the case. This item can be shipped in-house.
