American Colonial Mahogany High Chest, third quarter 18th century, in the Queen Anne taste, probably Massachusetts, in two parts, the upper section of bonnet-top form, with an upper fan-carved drawer flanked by a pair of shaped drawers over a graduated bank of four drawers, the drawers flanked by fluted pilasters, the base with a wide drawer over a band of three drawers, the center drawer with a shell-carved face, the skirt with three flattened arches and a pair of drop finials, the cabriole legs with shell-carved knees and pad feet, h. 89", w. 44-1/2", d. 23".

Fine American Colonial Revival Mahogany Tall Chest, late 19th century, in the Philadelphia Chippendale style, in two parts, the upper section with a scrolling broken-arch pediment centered by a pierced foliate-carved cartouche and flanked by flame finials, the case with a shell-carved drawer over three-over-two-over-three graduated drawers, the base with a pull-out shelf and a full-width drawer over three drawers, the lower central drawer with foliate and shell carving, the scalloped skirt centered by a carved shell, raised on cabriole legs with foliate carving at the knees and ball-and-claw feet, h. 95", w. 46", d. 24-3/8". This present piece was bench made and exhibits unusually skilled cabinet work utilizing rose-head-style nails throughout its construction.
