An Unusual Continental Figural
An Unusual Continental Figural Porcelain Salt Container Fashioned in molded porcelain with decorative motifs including grape leaves, stars and foliate details, in a glossy blue and clear glaze over the white. The container is of baluster form with leaf handles and a leaf finial, all of one piece. (The lid does not come off). Circular flaring opening at the front with a decorative bearded mask at the top of the opening. Three jovial figures perched at the top and sides of the opening; a seated woman on the top of the lid, and men standing on ribbed brackets at either side. Each appears to be enjoying a frothy brew. No maker's marks were found.

THREE JOCELYN BURTON SILVER OPEN SALTSROUND FORM, TWO W...Three Jocelyn Burton Silver Open Salts round form, two with shell motif, and one "snail" cellar (one with separation from bottom) height 1 1/2 inches, diameter 3 inches 10.6 troy ounces Provenance: The consignor’s late husband, Philip Refson, owned the Charles de Temple jewelry shop on Jermyn St, London in the late 1970's through early 90's. Charles de Temple and Jocelyn Burton were friends, and he carried many of Jocelyn's silver pieces in his store. Mr. Refson became a private client (and personal friend) of Jocelyn's during this time and often commissioned pieces directly from Jocelyn. The chargers and the bull place card holders (Philip was a Taurus) are examples of commissioned pieces.
