A PAIR OF CHINESE RED INK STONE RUBBINGS OF ORCHIDS 19th century, red ink on stone rubbing on paper, the pair with large sprays of orchids to each vertical panel, one panel with boulder at top, orchids were admired by the Chinese literati as a symbol of loyalty and unappreciated virtue, inscription to upper right hand side of each painting, and another inscription to lower left center on one, these are probably poems, laid onto a silk brocade mounting, framed in identical ornate rope style gilt frames under glass.
