BOB THOMPSON (american 1937-1966) "ODALISQUE WITH BLUE DRAPE" Inscribed with title and signed and dated 'B. Thompson 60' twice verso, oil on canvas 35 x 48 in. (88.9 x 121.9cm) provenance: Martha Jackson Gallery, New York, New York. Private Collection, Long Island, New York. note: A signed poster from Martha Jackson Gallery will accompany this lot. ,000-30,000 Stable and good condition overall. Oil on heavy, plain woven canvas. Stretched on student grade stretcher with addition of corner braces. Stretcher is not stable enough to support this size painting and keep it in place. Hence, the canvas exhibits general, undulating distortions overall. Additionally, localized distortions along the upper left top edge has caused mechanical cracking of the ground/paint film. The paint in this area is stable and in no danger at this time of flaking. Overall the paint film appears stable and in good condition. Drying cracks are apparent in isolated passages such as the area of black paint on the left and in the upper left corner.
