PAIR OF CHINESE LONGQUAN WARE
PAIR OF CHINESE LONGQUAN WARE CELADON VASE, MING D Chinese ,Ming Dynasty, each with robustly heavily potted in an elongated ovoid form with a short narrow neck above broad rounded shoulders tapering sharply to the flared foot, deftly incised on the body with two lotus bouquets, each composed of large blooms, a large and a small leaf, a pod and other water plants, their stems all bent and tied with a ribbon, set between a camellia scroll collaring the neck, all beneath a glossy deep yellowish-green glaze.
H:17 1/2" (44.5cm)
Provenance: collection of Victor(1919-2013)and Takako Hauge(1923-2015), and thence by descent
Condition: both in overall good condition with surface wear and minor firing flaw

A Pair of Chinese Longquan Celadon Yen Yen Vases Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) baluster bodies rising from short slightly tapering feet to tall cylindrical necks broadening to wide trumpet mouths the necks and bodies freely carved with large peony sprays between bands of concentric rings scroll design and upright petal lappets each covered overall in a rich olive green glaze pooling toward an unglazed foot ring burnt red in the firing heights 22 1/4 in. Note: Restoration to one mouth. Provenance: Ex Connecticut Collection; acquired 2004.
