Harper's Handy Series Weekly. 16mo printed paper wraps 193pp plus 6pp ads. The booklet is an attempt to explain America and her people to Europeans (and others). The preface begins with The United States of America are a great alembic into which the emigrant vessels of Europe are constantly pouring a vast quantity... the raw material of the American people that is yet to be. Toning and chipping of the wraps. Very light toning of leaves but basically clean.

Provenance: Bonhams California, June 9, 2002, Lot #8173.Notes:The Pan-Pacific or Panama–Pacific International Exposition world fair was held in San Francisco from February 20 to December 4, 1915. While its stated purpose was to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal, it was also considered an opportunity for the city of San Francisco to show how well it had recovered from the 1906 earthquake. The fair was held in what is now known as the Marina District and exhibits included a steam locomotive, the Liberty Bell, the Tower of Jewels and a telephone line that ran to New York so that people could hear the ocean from opposite sides of the continent.

Stereoscope with slides of the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition within cedar box containing 8 boxes of Plaques Gelatino-Bromure d'Argent slides. Provenance: Charleston South Carolina private collection. Many slides marked PPIE and San Francisco; many buildings are identifiable; some boxes marked with labels and handwritten notes. Slides are in various stages of deterioration: some are peeling and many are in good condition. Some are negatives. Scope is functioning. Box is associated. All pieces with expected wear for age.

Previously collected by Dorothy Koelbel who worked for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Koelbel collected posters while traveling across the country for studio photo shoots. Condition: Some edgewear to poster including small vertical tear that extends through ''S'' in Paris along top edge plus small vertical tear along bottom edge extending through ''M'' in American. Few scattered pinholes along edges. Upper right corner missing a small piece.

This is an unlisted variety for this medal as Smedley only listed bronze while this one is silver, inscribed on the edge - Argent. The engraving and die work on this medal is exquisite

Each photograph is a silver gelatin print on thick mat paper showing scenes from the Fair annotated in pencil by the photographers. Minor rubbing to boards; otherwise a fine copy.
