Christophe Fratin (French, 1800-1864) A pair of cast bronze monkeys with ruddy brown patina, the first seated with a basket and wearing a head scarf, approx. 7"H, stamped with "Fratin" on the base; the second a seated monkey wearing a tasseled cap, stamped with "Fratin" on the base, approx. 7"H. He holds something in his mouth that appears to be a Punch with a bicorn hat. One is meant to hold tobacco or cigars and the other is an spirit lamp or lighter.
