AFTER PAUL COMOLERA (FRENCH, 1818 - 1897) 13 ?" x 12 ½" x 6 ½" Cast white metal with bronze and verdigris patination, expressively depicting a pheasant hen protecting her nest with eggs against a rodent; signed on the base "P. Comolera", old wood panel attached at the bottom with green felt tabs.

Provenance: Estate of Joanna Barnes and Jack Warner (Santa Barbara, California). Ms. Barnes was a Hollywood film actress featured in movies such as "Auntie Mame (1958)" and "The Parent Trap (1961)". Mr. Warner was a prominent architect.
