ASSORTED PEWTER AND LIGHTING, 51 ITEMSAssorted pewter items. 1st item: Pewter nursing bottle, marked TH on underside, possibly American, late 18th century (also called Murder Bottle due to the number of infants who died from the interaction of lactic acid and pewter). 6-1/3"H. 2nd item: Large 19th century pewter handled measure, marked Quart in serrated rectangle with Victoria Regina marks, engraved three-part monogram on front and two (partially illegible) names inscribed on bottom, tapering cylindrical form with c scroll handle. 6"H. 3rd item: Miniature pewter oval tray with scalloped border, marked on underside LONDON with rose and deer mark, 4-1/2" x 2-7/8". 4th through 6th item: 3 large master salt dishes, each of circular footed form, one with engraved gadroon design to underside; all unmarked and measuring approximately 3"H x 3-1/2" diameter. Late 18th through early 19th century. Items 7-12: Six matching pewter pap boats or invalid feeders, all with spade shaped handles and faint crowned X mark with possible maker's name DENT in rectangle, 4-3/4"L. Likely 20th century. Items 13-26: Fourteen small cheese plates or tavern saucers, 4-1/2" diameter, some with rampant lion and/or thistle hall marks to main side, 2 with maker's mark IC on back, the others marked S. or C. ORFORD in rectangle on back, some with additional inscriptions George Inn, Hampton Court or London (on back). Late 19th through mid 20th century. Item 27: Pewter wine funnel, unmarked, 3-1/8", probably 19th century. Items 28-36: Assemblage of eight small cups or measures, a few with 19th century English marks, ranging from 1-7/8" to 3"H. Items 37-42: Six hammered pewter spoons with fish fin style handles, marked JHG. 2 have round bowls, the rest have oval bowls. 4-3/4"L, possibly 20th century. 43rd item: pair of miniature pewter taper candlesticks, unmarked, 3-1/4"H. Items 44 through 51: Eight small / miniature oil lamps, all likely 19th century, including 2 pewter finger lamps, 1 blown or flint glass whale oil lamp, 1 milk glass lamp with raised stars and name BANNER encircling the sides, and four brass oil lamps. Sizes range from 2-1/2" to 5-3/8".
Condition:
1st item: several dents around body of bottle, one dent to neck. 2nd item: dent to handle. 3rd item: Numerous small dents. 4th through 6th items: pitting, scattered dents and oxidation, one has a tiny corroded hole to interior of bowl. Item 27 (wine funnel) - missing ring handle. All other items: scattered small dents and wear. Some lighting items may have replaced or missing parts.
