A Chippendale Pie-crust Table, ca. 1750 With a central shaft in the Chippendale on a tripod base, the 20-3/4"D solid wood top with carved shaped rim. A bird-cage attached to the underside can be removed from the base; secured by a rectangular peg. The base has a fluted columnar shaft, above a diagonally carved cup and an egg and dart band, all set on a cabriole legged tripod base with foliate carved knees and claw and ball feet. The table stands approx. 27-1/2"H. Purchased from Marshall Galleries, Cleveland, Ohio, 1971.

ANTIQUE PIE CRUST EDGED TILT TOP
ANTIQUE PIE CRUST EDGED TILT TOP PARLOR TABLEChippendale feet, carved knees, fluted shaft, crow's nest neck.
Fine example of a heavily turned-down top with pie crust edge, beveled underneath; dark mahogany or walnut make in the style of late 18th-early 19th century American tilt-and-turn tray tables, which also swivel circumferentially about their tiered, 4-post "crow's nest" neck. Original brass latchet works well and is patinated with age. Fluted shaft and urn has deep foliage and seed carving, ending in cabriolet legs with hip and knee carving, and deeply carved, pad Chippendale feet. Top has some staining consummate with age and use. Total weight approx. 20lb.
