Kingston Jamaica massive carved and turned posts with twist pineapple and reeded features straight rails shaped headboard with conforming crest height 96 in. length 75 in. width 52 in. Note: The juxtaposition of massive and bold twists with exuberant reeding pineapple carving and ring turnings seen here appears in other Jamaican beds including those illustrated in Connors. Caribbean Elegance figs. 98-99. These are seen often in English Regency antecedents though of smaller proportions.

Herter Brothers four poster bedstead, mahogany and Spanish cedar posts, finely carved with vine and bellflower and incised carved tall posts, carved capitals, paneled headboard centering oval plaque of stork, conforming footboard with baby stork flanked by cattails, unmarked, attributed to Herter Brothers, New York, 1870s, exterior 110 x 60-1/2 x 82-1/2 in., interior 56 x 79 in. Posts with old dry varnish, head and footboard possibly old refinishing, scattered cracks and separations to panels, stork lacking tip of one wing and one leg replaced, tack wounds on headboard from previous mount attachments (one mount still present), scattered chips and losses to turned and carved elements, foot posts in sections and somewhat loose, other scattered nail wounds, minor losses and repairs.
