JACOB PETIT POTPOURRI URN AND COVERFrench porcelain potpourri jar and cover, attributed to Jacob Petit, square form with pierced gilded relief frieze, the sides with vignettes of young lovers to one side and portrait of female titled "Mlle de Fontanges" to the other side, canted corners, on lion mask and paw feet. Pierced cover with gilt foliate scroll decoration and relief molded and pierced freize. Blue "JP" underglaze mark to the base. 9" H. Note: Mlle. de Fontanges was the young mistress of Louis XIV from 1678 until her death from complications from miscarriages at 19 years of age in 1681. 9" H. 19th century. Porcelain Potpourri Jars, in the style of Bow or Derby, with pierced lids and top rims, bird form lid finials, decorated with raised painted masks, applied flowers, and painted insects, unmarked, 9 1/2" high, 5" diam. One has lid rim chip, restoration to "skirted" leaf decoration, firing crack to base; both have flakes to applied flowers.

A Meissen Porcelain Potpourri Urn A large figural porcelain footed potpourri urn with a country maid and cherub sitting beside a basket of grapes on a rococo base with grapevines winding up the sides of a pierced urn and with a monkey holding grapes standing on the side of the vine. The baluster form urn element has a pierced basket weave motif and a bird with grapes as a finial on the lid. Marked on the underside with blue crossed swords mark after 1930. Beautifully modeled and hand decorated in polychrome picked out in gilt. Styled in the manner of J.J. Kandler.
