An Eli Terry Shelf Clock ca. 1850's With mahogany veneers stenciled half columns and splat mirrored tabled below clear rolled glass top painted wood face with Arabic numerals spandrels with strawberry motif with weights pendulum and crank partial paper label inside back.Eli Terry (1772-1852) apprenticed to Thomas Harland and was destined to become one of the most famous of watch makers. The oldest of ten children he made his first clock at age 21. In 1800 he started the first clock factory in America at Northbury a part of Plymouth Connecticut.
