A Pair of Miniature Portraits, 18th
A Pair of Miniature Portraits, 18th Century Most probably by the same hand, the portraits are of a handsome man in a military garb and a pretty young lady in a frilly Empire style dress, each measuring approx. 3"D, each encased in a metal mount with convex glass and a circular wood frame overall approx. 4-1/2"D. Neither appear to be signed but they are very delicately painted in oil on a thin ivory surface pasted to a paper support.

A GROUPING OF THREE FRAMED ANTIQUE PROFILE PORTRAITS 19th century, including two cut and paste silhouettes, the first a portrait bust of a young woman, faint illegible signature to lower edge of subject (frame dimensions 4 7/8 x 3 7/8 in.), the second of a child holding a riding crop, with watercolor and white heightening embellishment, appears unsigned (4 1/4 x 3 3/4 in.); the third is a pen and ink profile portrait of a Continental gentleman in top hat, appears unsigned, with later embossed mark "German 1811" to the verso (4 x 4 1/2 in.). Each presented behind glass in wood frames.

Condition:
Not examined out of frames, cannot be removed, very nicely backed. Appear to be on wove paper. Round frame example has some minor creasing and some brognins in the bottom corner. Square framed example has a very minor crease and slight browning around the eye.
