CONTINENTAL PUNCH LADLE CA.
CONTINENTAL PUNCH LADLE CA. 1850-1875 17 ?" long A speciality item designed to move a few ounces of fluid from a bowl to a small crystal cup. The silver bowl is formed from sheet and die formed with ribs. Giving strength to a lightweight piece. The silver stem an ferrule are fabricated from silver sheet. The purpose was to make a tool lighter than the all silver variety. Same amount of silver to make one could be turned into four items, placing silverwares in all classes, not only the affluent. The handle is made from bone and is an example as to what complicated machinery was available at the time. If the buyer hosts cotillions, celebrates Hogmanay and Burns night, this ladle has you covered. XFR analyzer determined silver to be .800 purity.
