Squared cabriole legs dovetailed case four overlapping dovetailed drawers and slant top lid with fitted interior. 41.75''h. 34''w. 17''d. Ex Wadsworth Atheneum (label in the top drawer) and exhibited at the Slater Memorial Museum in Connecticut in 1965. Imperfections and old repairs including replaced feet. Refinished with small repair on the exterior of the lid. Some staining to the interior period braces. DW 8/27/12

QUEEN ANNE SLANT-FRONT DESK. Possibly New England 18th century pine and hardwood. Dovetailed case bracket feet three dovetailed drawers and slat front lid. Fitted interior has well with sliding cover that conceals five drawers; there are five pigeon holes and five dovetailed drawers with hidden drawers behind. Writing surface has remnants of old cloth covering. Old batwing brasses. 35 3/8''w. 21''d. Appears to be an old replacement at hinge rail that is approx. 3/4''w x 3/8''d x length of lid minor wear and damaged dovetailed area on right side above top drawer. 40 1/2 h.

QUEEN ANNE SLANT-FRONT DESK. Probably Philadelphia Pennsylvania ca.1760 figured walnut pine poplar and possibly cedar. Five-drawer desk on ogee bracket feet the stepped interior with shell-carved drawers and secret drawers behind the prospect. Imperfections. 43 1/2''h. 39 1/2''w. 22 1/2''d. 30 1/2'' writing surface. Sold at Sotheby's (New York) January 2001 lot 751. The interior particularly the configuration of the hidden compartments is similar to a desk-and-bookcase attributed to Samuel Harding that sold as part of the collection of Mr. and Mrs. Lammot du Pont Copeland at Sotheby's in January 2002 and is now part of the collection of the Chipstone Foundation. Older refinish replaced feet The left foot facing has been repaired. Period brasses in second set of holes replaced hinges to the lid and prospect door pieced repair at lid hinge rail age crack to the lid pieced repair at the top near the lid lock one of the smaller drawers fitted with later dividers (now missing) replaced pulls on the interior drawers. The runners on the bottom drawers have been replaced.
