  CESARINE HENRIETTE FLORE DAVIN (FRANCE, 1773-1844) Portrait miniature of "Anna Boleyn", as identified on the kid leather backing, oil on ivory, signed lower right, in a delicate gilt bronze frame with integral easel, retaining the remnants of the original silk covered backing. 4 1/2" x 3" overall. The painting is fine. Anne Boleyn was Queen of England from 1533 to 1536 as the second wife of King Henry VIII. She was the mother of the future Queen Elizabeth. She was accused of treason and beheaded by Henry to clear the way for his third wife, Jane Seymour (and the Reformation).
