Note: In 1886 Robert J. Horner established his furniture business on East 23rd Street in New York producing work to satisfy a variety of tastes. The robust execution of Rococo-inspired carved ornament apparent in this bedroom suite bespeaks a singular Beaux Arts style produced by R.J. Horner. Documented Horner pieces encompass highly carved oak walnut and mahogany bedroom furniture as well as parlor dining room and library furniture in a variety of styles particularly with Renaissance Rococo and Aesthetic motifs.
