A Raspberry Majolica Serving Platter Apprx. 11-5/8"W x 9-3/8"D the lip and a band around the center cast in the shape of twigs with handles at either end the wide border cast with raspberries on leafy stems unmarked. The twig elements are glazed in clear yellow the raspberries in pink leaves green on a periwinkle textured background the center is mottled pink yellow and brown. There are also some hints of green on the back.

FREDERICK BATCHELLER STRAWBERRY BASKET PAINTING Rhode Island1837-1889Depicts a basket over flowing with strawberries framed by leaves glistening in sunlight. Batcheller started his career as an apprentice to the Tingley Brothers carving marble before switching to painting around 1855. Batcheller was one of the founders of the Providence Art Club and exhibited his work alongside Stetson, Bannister, Whitaker, and Lewin.
