(2 PC) WW1 IMPERIAL GERMAN STEIN SETDESCRIPTION: (2 pcs) Pair of Imperial German Lidded Regimental steins. Includes: (1) Imperial German Lidded Regimental stein. 1. Schweres Reiter-Regiment Prinz Karl von Bayern.1st Heavy Cavalry Regiment Prince Karl of Bavaria. Pewter lid has a horse mounted soldier with lion above handle. Stein is marked "Made in Germany" on bottom. Rare stein. The honorary Colonel-in-Chief of this regiment was Generalfeldmarschall Prinz Leopold von Bayern. The commanding officer was Prinz Alfons von Bayern. This regiment was garrisoned in Munich. In 1815, the regiment participated in Napoleon's defeat at the Battle of Waterloo. In 1866, it fought with Austria against Prussia in the Seven Weeks War. In 1870, it fought against the French at Beaumont, Sedan, Artenay, Orleans, Chateaudun, Marchenoir, Coulmiers, Villepion, Loigny-Poupry, Meung, Beaugency-Cravant and in 1871 participated in the siege of Paris. (1) Imperial German Lidded Regimental stein. 1. Hochsee Torpedo Boats Flotilla. 1st High Seas Torpedo Boats Flotilla. The pewter lid has a sailor holding a German naval flag with four quadrants. Five German pewter-mounted lithophane regimental steins second half-20th century; each one depicting a branch of German military service from the Franco-Prussian war to early 1900's stein lids depicting soldiers sailors and military equipment 11 to 13 in. H. Estimate $ 300-500 Condition report 2-22-12: *The stein on the far left of the picture: reads ''7. Comp. Feib. Garde Inft(1)r. Regt. (1 Grolsh. Hess) No. 115. Darmstadt 1906-08.'' The lid does not fit snugly. There is wear to the pewter lids and mounts. Wear to pewter mounts some gilt loss.
