ANTIQUE FRETWORK, "REMEMBER THE MAINE", CIRCA 1900Antique Fretwork "Remember The Maine," circa 1900 , Spanish-American War tribute comprised of many pieces of scrollwork cut wood. It is laid out in the format of a U.S. shield flanked by flags and surmounted by a spread winged eagle holding a banner that reads "Remember The Maine". At the center is the U.S. Battleship Maine. All Laid on red and blue velvet fabric.
Overall 25 in. x 19.5 in.

[Civil War - Cased Images] Sixth
[Civil War - Cased Images] Sixth Plate Tintype of Maine Artilleryman unidentified except for brass kepi insignia showing a numeral ?2? over ?ME? and crossed cannons indicating the 2nd Maine Light Battery. Seated before panoramic painted backdrop the private wears a shell jacket with lightly tinted red piping and rectangular eagle belt plate with trousers colored deep sky blue. The 2nd Maine Battery served with the Army of the Potomac and saw action at Gettysburg before joining the 9th Corps for Grant??Ts Overland Campaign. The battery ended the war as part of the defenses of City Point Virginia and mustered out in June 1865. Condition: Plate with several minor spots in field at 10 o??Tclock else near EXC. with good clarity. Image is spectacular outside of dirty cover glass which has never been cleaned. Housed in a fine Krainik #158 Union case The Church Window.
