William Burden, Jr. (American, b.1919?) "Ridin' High", oil on panel, 28" x 25", c.1948. Street scene of three African American children on bicycles. Burden was a student of John Herron Art School in Indiana when this painting was exhibited at Phillips Academy's Addison Gallery at Andover, Mass. It won top honors and was later reproduced in LIFE magazine (Dec 6, 1948) and exhibited on a nationwide tour, under the sponsorship of the American Federation of Arts.

R.J. Reynolds tobacco truck, cast metal and aluminum construction with wooden bed and later wooden stake sides, doors marked "R.J.R Tobacco Company", hood marked "Mack", 20-1/4 in. Scattered corrosion and paint loss, stakes later replacements, one headlight with old glue repair (off but present). Given to Thomas Gray at age 4 in 1952 by his grandfather, James A. Gray (1889-1952), serving as Chairman of the Board, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, who received the truck from a Mack truck supplier.

Repaint on Wyandotte coupe.
