A collaborative oil on canvas
A collaborative oil on canvas painting by Hendrick Pieter Koekkoek (Dutch 1843-1890) and Albert Roosenboom (Belgian 1845-1875). Depicts a rich forest landscape with multiple figures. Signed lower middle in black ''H.P. Koekkoek'' and lower mid right in red ''A. Roosenboom''. Verso has two applied writing reserves. The first appears to read ''The undersigned declares that this picture has been painted by himself to the order of A.D. Thuyretter of Antirep. H.P. Koekkoek''. The second writing reserve is written mostly illegibly in French but at the bottom the signature ''Roosenboom'' is legible. Canvas stamped with manufacturer's info between reserves: ''P. Silea Artists Colorman.......... Tottenham C. Road London''. Framed in original gilt frame with plaque at the bottom reading ''A. Roosenboom and H.P. Koekkoek''. Condition: discoloration from age to verso of canvas minor wear and age to frame see images. Measures 23.75'' tall x 19.65'' wide (sight) and 30'' tall x 26'' wide (frame).
