This version depicts the Virgin Mary in an architectural setting (symbolizing Mary's house) with a potted lily at one side (a symbol of the purity of the Annunciation often shown held in the hand of the Angel Gabriel messenger of Gods will to humans) a basket with an open book on the other side (possibly the Gospel of Luke or a symbol of piety) and holding the yarnwinder at her side. She wears a modest expression as she contemplates the symbols.
