LATE 19TH CENTURY 22 ½" and 28 ½" with chimney Traditional conical form with fluted body, two handles with turned wood insulators, pronounced spout with turn lock and wood finial, top cover with two wood insulator handles and steam opening, raised on stepped dome base with four scroll feet, small hinged cover for ashes on the bottom, zinc finish on the inside; offered with additional chimney and brass collar. Marked with Russian Imperial Warrant dated 1898, Bronze Medals for 1870 and Gold Medal for 1882, and inscribed in Cyrillic: "Cooperative of Steam Samovar Factory of Successors of Vasiliy Stepanovich Bagashev, Tula" on the lid. Provenance: old private collection, Sewickley, PA, by descent in the family to the current owner.
