Rare Set of Six Russian Porcelain
Rare Set of Six Russian Porcelain Tea Cups and Saucers, ca. 1900, by Brothers Kornilov, St. Petersburg, decorated in green and brick red folkloric banding with gilt edges, the cups with "Mishka the Bear" handles, accompanied by a typewritten description on the letterhead of A La Vielle Russie, New York, overall h. 2-1/8", dia. 5-1/2". Pieces by the Kornilov factory, suppliers to the Imperial Court, became quite popular in the United States and Canada after their large display at the Russian Pavilion at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. Among the retailer's which carried their wares were Tiffany & Co., New York, and Shreve & Co., San Francisco.

All saucers have some wear to the gilt and enamelleing in the centre. The teacups have some wear to the gilt and enamelling in particular to the central band. The slops bowls has some wear to the gilt and enamelling of the central band. All pieces have red printed marks and some impressed marks.
