SPANISH GOTHIC CONTINENTAL SANTOS Carved and Polychromed standing figure of a Saint, possibly Peter, with tonsured hair and long split beard; white, red and green robes, a Bible in his left hand, his right hand grasping for a missing accessory, probably a crozier or shepherd's crook. Hole on top accomodated missing halo. 35" tall. Minor losses, wormage. Hollowed back, for interior architectural use.

TWO CONTINENTAL ARTICULATED SANTOS MALE AND FEMALE SAINTS Circa 1800, possibly Spanish, carved wood with gesso and polychrome, glass eyes, well-rendered naturalistic forms including a kneeling male figure (14 3/4 in.) and the other of a standing female with repoussé silver floral sunburst crown, silver marked (Rampant Lion) / CAM / 925 (16 3/4 in.), both with gesturing hands and mouth partially open, blue painted undergarments (to be clothed and displayed within the church during religious holidays and events). Both presented on custom metal stands.

Group of three carved and painted santos figures comprising Puerto Rican Montserrat Virgin (h. 8"), Holy Mother and Child (h. 13.75"), and Christ carrying cross (h. 11.75"). All apparently unmarked. Provenance: Montserrat Virgin purchased from Galeria Palomas, San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1983.

"OUR LADY HELP OF CHRISTIANS" ANTIQUE CARVED SANTOA nicely carved and polychromed wooden santo of Mary, Help of Christians, the Madonna depicted standing on a cloud and holding the crowned Christ-child. Glass eyes and tin crown.
Measures 22" x 8 1/4" x 7 3/4".
Condition
There is a pronounced vertical crack along the back of the santo. Wears to the paint. Horizontal cracking around the Madonna's neck. The Madonna has no crown or scepter, and the child has no hands.
