Saussure was a Brigadier General in the South Carolina Militia during the Civil War and served in the General Assembly as well as Secretary of the Treasury. After the War Against the States he became a lawyer. This one page letter discusses the death of a Dr. Thomas R. McFaddin, possibly Boyd's father in law and the need for an administrator be appointed. Ink on lined paper with a second blan k sheet folded in a corresponding manner. 7-3/4" L x 9-3/4" H.
