PATENT MODEL SEED DRILL. AlbertPATENT MODEL SEED DRILL. Albert Huntley 2nd half-19th century wood and tin. Scale model of Huntley's version of the seed drill retaining its original red paint with gold scrollwork decoration and ''Albert Huntley'' on the lid of the hopper. 7.5''l. Descended in Huntley's family. Albert Huntley (born 1838) was a farmer in Delaware County Ohio and something of an inventor. Huntley created the model seed drill offered here but was denied a patent from the US Patent Office as it was too similar to a seed drill that had been previously patented. The first seed drill was invented in 1701 by British agriculturalist Jethro Tull (1674-1741). Numerous improvements were made upon the design well into the 19th century including by inventors William Bullock in 1849 and Benjamin Sanders in 1852. Good dry surface on the paint. Missing one of the arms and tin cones.
