Seth Thomas #2 Regulator Clock ca. 1920's Walnut wood case 12" original painted dial with seconds dial original #77A movement Arabic numerals.Seth Thomas (1785-1859) apprenticed to a carpenter and then when 22 years of age he joined the firm Terry and Hoadley in clock making. He then started his clock factory in Plymouth Hollow and remained there until his death in 1859. He was regarded as one of the most honest and successful clock makers of his time. He is one of the most recognized makers even in modern time.

An early 20th century mahogany cased wall hanging regulator with plain glazed mahogany case and 10 inch Roman dial with subsidiary seconds signed Dent 61 Strand and 4 Royal Exchange London 59108 movement with spot finished plates dead-beat escapement and maintaining power 4ft 6in. Estimate ?2 000-3 000 Case in good untouched condition does not appear to have been repolished at any time dial looks original a little bit coloured with some crazing movement understood to be going but not tested in saleroom comes with heavy lead bob pendulum and possibly later brass cased weight original winding key and one (of two) case keys. Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. 1890-1900 REGULATOR 2 SESSIONS ADVERTISEMENT CLOCKFeatured in this lot is this 1890-1900s Calumet baking soda advertising regulator clock by the Sessions Clock Company. The clock features spring driven brass movements. The front of the clock is advertising Calumet Baking Powder. The oak case shows a dark finish and the bonnet is detailed with classic ogee edge wood molding. The bottom of the clock shows a bracketed wood apron. The clock face is colored white and is painted with Roman numerals and features a 31 day numbered calendar along the outer ring of face, marked by the red crescent moon arm. The bottom of the face is marked reading, "Made By The Sessions Clock Co. Forestville, Conn. U.S.A." in black lettering. The hinged wood frame door has a glass insert which is painted with the slogan, ‘Calumet baking Powder Time to Buy Best by Test’. The back fo the clock still features the original paper slip showing who made the clock, what kind of clock it is and directions on how to set and wind the clock. The clock shows good condition overall with some slight wear from its age and use but no obvious signs of damage are present. The clock has not been tested for functionality. The clock measures 4 5/8" L x 18" W x 38 3/8" H.

Condition:
Case possibly associated. Paint splatter and loss to carving on drop ornament at base of case, crazing to dial. No finial present at pediment. Small losses to carving on pediment. Some small holes to backboard. Works not checked or guaranteed to be complete or functional. Added modern reinforcements.
