Shaker cherry one-drawer stand,
Shaker cherry one-drawer stand, poplar secondary, dovetailed drawer, turned legs, attributed to Union Village, Ohio, circa 1860, 28-1/4 x 17-1/2 x 20-1/2 in. Old surface with scattered stains and abrasions to top, part of drawer pull missing, drawer bottom possibly old replacement, drawer possibly added, top warped and reattached, some pins lacking (slightly shaky), legs with scattered flaws and areas of infill. SHAKER CANDLE BOX. Union Village Ohio ca.1840 poplar. Dovetailed box with scroll-cut skirt and retaining much of its original finish with a dry surface. Repair. 7''h. 12 1/2''w. 6''d. This box descended in the Melampy family who were the last farm managers for the Shakers at Union Village. The box was a gift to them from the Shakers. According to tradition Dr. Melampy used it as his shoeshine box. Repair to backsplash cotter hinges reset or replaced.
