A Japanese Shakudo Plaque The rectangular bronze plaque measuring apprx. 3" x 1-1/2" x 3/16" thick has a panoramic landscape in relief with gold and silver inlay with a flowering garden stream and bridge low building pine trees and mountains in the distance. The reverse is cast with Japanese characters with gold pigment rubbed in for accent.

the cylindrical vase having a fitted removable copper liner, the exterior inlaid in gold, silver, copper and shibuichi showing lichen and reishi fungus emerging from rockworks with gilt bamboo behind, all underneath engraved characters from a poem, signed Mizunoe-inu no natsu nanajurokusai Hakudo Gen (by Hakudo Gen, age 76, summer, 1922), three gilded seals of the poet; vase signed Settsu Kaishozan no fumoto kokio Ryoun Moriyuki horu (carved by Ryoun Moriyuki, age 70, at the foot of Mount Kaisho, Settsu province) and sealed Moriyuki; with original box.
