RACKET SHREVE WINTER MARITIME WC PAINTING Massachusetts,b. 1944Impressionist depiction of two tugboats at dock during a snow storm. Shreve is well known for his maritime paintings and has an avid interest in small boat sailing and boat model restoration. Shreve has exhibited in numerous shows and won a 1990 Massachusetts Duck Stamp Competition with his painting of a Golden Eye Hen Decoy.

Marked on base, "Shreve & Co / Sterling / San Francisco / 7277 / Base Loaded." Dimensions: 11.5"h. Together with a cased daguerreotype of Capt. Charles R. Heath. Captain Heath is listed in the 1910 Crocker-Langley San Francisco Directory as "Charles R. Heath, master mariner, SP Co., Ferry Bldg." The El Capitan was a steamer operating in the San Francisco/Oakland/Vallejo area. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $40.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
