A George I Britannia standard silver tankard of restrained tapering form with banded girdle and domed lid with scroll thumbpiece Richard Bayley London 1718 6.25in 20 oz. Estimate ?1 500-2 000 Lid is very loose within it's hinge. There are several tiny nicks and dings to the exterior and interior of the lid codusive with age. There are two small dents to the interior rim of the lid. There appears to be an old repair to the the base of the thumbpiece where it joins the hinge arm. There are numerous minor dings to the main body of the tankard again condusive with age and use. There are two indentations to the handle above either side of the three engraved initials. The initials may not be contemporary. General overall condition is otherwise good. All marks relatively clear although date letter on lid and marks on the side of the body showing signs of wear.
