Four Japanese woodblock triptychs, Russo-Japanese naval battle scenes: Migita Toshihide (1863-1925), Japanese battleships engaging a Russian battleship; Ikeda Terukata (1883-1921), "A Great Victory for the Great Japanese Imperial Navy, Banzai!", the sinking of the battleship Petropalovsk; Kokyo, "Outside Port Arthur…", Japanese sailors scuttling ships to block the harbor entrance, creases at bottoms of panels ; triptych of Japanese sailors in lifeboat being fired upon by enemy battleship, two-character mark and seal lower left, early 20th century, all approximately 27-3/4 x 13-3/4 in. (sight); all in modern frames, 19 x 32-1/2 in. All with minor toning, one examined out of frame.

From a group of six prints that has been held by a Maine family for nearly a century and was assembled because a family member was an official in Tedy Roosevelt's cabinet when TR suceeded in negotiating the peaceful conclusion of the Japanese-Russo War in Portsmouth, NH, signed in September of 1905.

(2) JAPANESE WOODBLOCK UKIYO-E TRIPTYCHS, 19TH C.Yokohama school. To include: Inoue Yasuji (1864-1889) "Illustration of the Emperor's Military Review of a Parade Ground at Aoyama", June 1888. Sight size 27" x 14", overall with frame 34" x 21". Along with a depiction of the Hiroshima Base Camp meeting of the Officers Second General Kawakami, General Oyama, "Great Saigo", and President Arisugawa and others, 1892, Sino-Japanese War. Sight size 27 1/2" x 13 1/4", overall with frame 34 1/4" x 24 3/4". Overall both are in good condition, though the first shows some tanning and the second shows some discoloration in the horizon of the middle background.
