Spine of dj sunned; some scuffing of edges but overall in good condition. Grey Zane. The Redheaded Outfield and Other Baseball Stories. New York: Grosset & Dunlap 1920. 8vo red cloth 238pp plus 10pp ads. Frontmatter and first gathering loose edges somewhat scuffed. Spine ends and corners worn. Grey Zane. The Spirit of the Border. New York: A.L. Burt 1906. 8vo light blue pictorial cloth 266pp plus 10pp ads. Front hinge nearly gone. Scattered foxing. Wear to spine ends; corners bumped. Grey attended the University of Pennsylvania on a baseball scholarship. He never played professionally although his brother Romer (''R.C.'') played minor league ball (and one major league game with the Pirates). Zane still enjoyed baseball and played on several amateur teams through the years including the Orange Athletic Club (NJ) one of the best amateur teams of the early century. Grey concluded that dentistry was probably a more stable career choice although not one with which he was ever happy.
